This page explains how to delete your GNT Finance account and the personal data attached to it. The GNT Finance app is published on Google Play by Bit Microsystems LLC on behalf of GNT Finance and Mortgage (ABN 90 160 461 553), 23 Astbury Crescent, Mickleham VIC 3064.
Option 1 — delete it in the app
- Open the GNT Finance app and sign in.
- Go to the Account tab.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
Deletion runs straight away. It is permanent, it cannot be undone by us, and you are signed out immediately. There is no grace period and no "restore" — if you want your saved calculations or uploaded documents, save them before you delete.
Option 2 — ask us to delete it (no app needed)
If you have already uninstalled the app, or you cannot sign in, ask us directly:
- Email connectwithgn@gmail.com with the subject Delete my account, from the email address you used in the app.
- Or call or text 0426 403 703 (English, Nepali or Hindi).
Tell us the email address on the account. We will check that the request really comes from you (usually by replying to that email address, or by asking a question only the account holder can answer) and then run exactly the same deletion the in-app button runs. We aim to finish within 7 days and will always finish within 30 days, and we email you to confirm when it is done. Requesting deletion is free.
What is deleted
When your account is deleted we permanently remove, from our database and file storage:
- Your login account: name, email address, phone number, suburb, state, city, password, sign-up IP address and marketing consent record. The account row is either deleted outright or stripped to an ID that identifies nobody.
- Every document you uploaded through the app (payslips, bank statements, ID and so on) — both the database record and the underlying file in our storage bucket.
- Your saved calculations and their inputs.
- Your in-app notifications and any device push tokens.
- Any unused one-time sign-in and verification codes for your email address.
- Your newsletter subscription, in our database and in our email provider (Brevo), so you stop receiving email from us.
- Your bookings — any appointment you made with us using that email address.
- Rate-limiting counters and other technical records keyed to your account.
If you never started a loan application in the app, that is everything: nothing about you is kept, including your enquiries. Your email address becomes free to sign up again from scratch.
What we have to keep, and for how long
If you did start a loan application with us, we must keep the credit file. GNT Finance and Mortgage provides credit assistance, and a credit business is required to keep records of the credit assistance it provides for seven years under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth) and its regulations. The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) only requires us to destroy personal information where we are not required by law to keep it.
So where a loan application exists, we keep — and only keep:
- The application itself: what you were buying or refinancing, income, deposit, employment, residency or visa status, the notes you gave us and the stage it reached.
- The file notes our broker recorded against that application.
- The enquiry record that the application created, which carries the name, email and phone number the file belongs to — without it the record could not be produced to a regulator, a court or to AFCA if you ever complained.
Even in that case we strip the IP address, device details and page history from the retained record, delete your password, documents, saved calculations, notifications, push tokens and newsletter subscription, and close the login account so nobody can sign in as you. We destroy or de-identify the retained file seven years after the file closes. We do not use it for marketing.
Two other things are outside the account itself and are not "kept" in any usable sense: routine web-server and security logs (IP addresses, request records), which are purged automatically within 30 days and are not linked to your name; and encrypted database backups, which are held by our database provider on a short rolling cycle and are overwritten in the ordinary course. Backups are never used to bring a deleted account back.
Records we never had in the app
If you have been a client, some records about your loan also sit with the lender, our aggregator and our licensee. Deleting your app account does not delete those, and we cannot delete them for you — they are the lender's records, kept under their own legal obligations. Contact the lender directly if you want to know what they hold.
Questions, access and complaints
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or complain about how we handled it: email info@gntfinance.com.au or connectwithgn@gmail.com, or call 0426 403 703. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or, for credit-related matters, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (afca.org.au, 1800 931 678). Our full privacy policy explains everything else we do with personal information.
