Privacy policy

How GNT Finance and Mortgage collects, uses, stores and protects your personal and credit information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

GNT Finance and Mortgage ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information, including credit-related information, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code.

What we collect

To provide credit assistance we collect identity details, contact details, employment and income information, assets, liabilities and expenses, credit history, visa or residency status, and details of the property you are buying or refinancing. We also collect information you enter into calculators or forms on this website, and standard web-server data such as IP address and browser type.

How we collect it

Directly from you (forms, calls, meetings, document uploads), from third parties with your consent (employers, accountants, banks, credit reporting bodies such as Equifax, illion and Experian, valuers, conveyancers) and from lenders and our aggregator during the application process.

Why we collect it

To assess your requirements and objectives, verify your identity, determine which loans are not unsuitable for you, prepare and lodge applications, manage your loan after settlement, comply with laws (including the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 and anti-money-laundering laws) and, with your consent, keep you informed about rates and products.

Who we share it with

Lenders and mortgage insurers, our aggregator and licensee, credit reporting bodies, valuers, conveyancers and solicitors, referral partners you ask us to work with, IT and cloud providers who host our systems (which may store data in Australia or overseas, including the United States), and regulators or courts where required by law. We do not sell your information.

Credit reporting

With your consent we may obtain your credit report from a credit reporting body to assess your application. Credit reporting bodies may use your information to produce credit scores and to assist other credit providers. You can ask a credit reporting body not to use your information for direct marketing pre-screening and can request a ban if you believe you are a victim of fraud. Contact details for Equifax, illion and Experian are available on their websites.

Website, cookies and analytics

Our website uses essential cookies for forms and bookings and may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how pages are used. Calculator inputs are processed in your browser; if you share a result link, the inputs are contained in that link. Booking and enquiry forms send your details to our secure database hosted with Cloudflare and our database provider.

Security and retention

We store information in encrypted systems with access controls, and retain it for as long as needed to provide services and meet legal obligations (generally seven years after your file closes), after which it is destroyed or de-identified.

Deleting your app account

If you use the GNT Finance app you can delete your account and the personal data attached to it at any time — in the app under Account → Delete account, or by asking us by email or phone if you no longer have the app. How to delete your account and data sets out exactly what is erased, what we are legally required to keep and for how long.

Access, correction and complaints

You may request access to or correction of your personal information by emailing info@gntfinance.com.au. If you have a privacy complaint, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or, for credit-related matters, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (afca.org.au, 1800 931 678).
